O2A2 Adrenaline Rush!

Ciao a tutti!

This is my second O2A2 entry, I'm so excited!
This year I submitted a little add-on to Emerald Wasp instead of a brand new game (more on this later), I hope you will enjoy it!

So... now that I'm writing the post mortem...
I have to be honest, not everything went as I planned. The first problem I encountered was the falling of the game jam between three major events IRL: a full-day train ride to my old town, my cousin's graduation (and subsequent party) and an abilitation exam right at the end. I tried to squeeze the development between the little free moments I had and completely evaporated from social media for this, but I ended up working on the code by night anyway. For that reason I couldn't polish the art as I wanted or think more carefully about the story, and I was the sole tester\proofreader of the game because I didn't arrange a plan B in time when the tester\proofreader had a sudden IRL event.
I am well aware that there's a sprite error, but I won't be able to get my hands on the PC later and I would risk not entering the jam in time, so I will fix it as soon as I can.

But I did try my best in this short window of time and experimented with something new.
The first spark of the idea was the flickering lights and, since I'm sensible to flashing lights, I tried to make it very dim but noticeable.
It's the first time I edit a GUI myself too, even if the edits are abismal, and also I spent a day trying and testing the randomizer mechanic of the Russian Roulette. As last year, I wanted the game to have a playable mechanic (different from the previous one) even with the 1000 words limit, but if you know anything about Russian Roulette you will understand why there's not a real winning condition here.
The choices and the ability to survive till last round though will bring you to two separate endings regardless.
And now about the plot...

With the IRL stuff that needed time and concentration, I couldn't set on a brand new story this time. Before that jam started I brainstormed a couple of options but I needed them to be understandable with only 1000 words, and I didn't want to half bake it. That's when I decided to go for one of the extras for Emerald Wasp: I promised I would make some in the past and this is the second official one.
I usually publish spin offs via riddles and ciphers, so this is an exception since it's openly participating to a gamejam. It's not necessary to play the original game to understand this one, but for those who come from the rpg you will notice the MC is an existent character from the game.
In the original draft of Emerald Wasp there was a Roussian Roulette mechanic, it got discarded when I decided to scope down the game of 50%. And since Roussian Roulette has a simple mechanic to understand, with a win\fail condition, I decided to revisit that idea for this jam.
It's something different from what was in the works two years ago though!

Anyway I kept all the work in progress pictures, I just didn't post them on social media not to distract myself...
But I will show them in these days, hopefully!

Anyway thank you for reading so far!
I wanted to participate no matter what because it's a jam I love, I hope you'll enjoy my entry!
